We serve a wonderful community and I love being part of a team that creates amazing smiles for our neighbors. Dr. Upton is a gentle, attentive orthodontist and he and the rest of the Riverview Orthodontics team always make patients’ welfare the top priority. I work in our on-site lab, where I finish all the before and after patient study models. I also create custom appliances and retainers that ensure patients’ smiles remain beautiful and strong.
I’m blessed with a husband for 45 years, William. As Pop and Nannie, we have seven grandchildren. Along with loving and spoiling the grands, we spend a lot of time at the ball park, on field trips, and supporting their dance and theater activities. We’re active members of Shiloh Baptist Church and are thankful for our home on our land in Ralph.
I love to meet our patients as they start treatment and see how each becomes happier and more confident as their smile changes. No matter what the person’s age or needs are, changing their appearance increases their self-esteem. We have an amazing doctor and team who keep our office full of laughter as they create great smiles! I seat patients, assist Dr. Upton with various procedures, and offer home-care instructions. I also work in the lab, answer the phones, and schedule appointments.
I was born and raised in Tuscaloosa and was an Air Force pilot’s wife for 13½ years. I have two sons: Jon was born in 1991 and was killed in a car accident in 2015. Brett, my other son, is married to the wonderful Laney Sabo. I love going to the beach, working in my yard, and spending time with friends and loved ones.
Orthodontic Assistant and 3D Printer Specialist
It’s incredible that I spend my days surrounded by smiling, happy people. Our patients and their families are some of the best people in the world, and they become part of my extended family. I love how everyone at Riverview Orthodontics takes time to talk with patients, explain treatment, answer questions, and keep them excited about the process. In addition to chairside assistance and taking records, I also print our 3D diagnostic and treatment models.
My home life is shared with my delightful dog. I love skiing, anything involving the water, and painting, too.
I look forward to coming to work: every day I meet people as they start changing their lives and I make sure everything goes smoothly. Everyone at Riverview Orthodontics is encouraging and supportive, which makes for a positive environment. I meet new patients and parents, introduce them to orthodontics, take initial photos, and answer questions. Working closely with patients, I review their treatment plan, explain the process, and work on financing, too. It’s important for people to be able to make informed decisions about care and their new smile!
I’m originally from California but have lived in Tuscaloosa for almost 20 years. I attended Shelton State and graduated from the University of Alabama with a BS in finance/real estate. My husband Matt and I just had our first baby, Dryver, in January 2017. We love being parents!
I love interacting with people of all ages and seeing their excitement about changing their smile! Watching a person go through braces, and how different they are at the end, is the best experience. I am so excited for each of them! In addition to scheduling visits, I greet and check in patients, assist new patients with their paperwork, and answer questions about Riverview Orthodontics and what we do.
I’m a retired high school and middle school science teacher and have three adult children: Bailey Amanda is a Presbyterian minister, Elizabeth Ellis is a speech language pathologist, and Hill is in law school. Outside of work and time with loved ones, I enjoy traveling, gardening, and being with Findley, my dog.
Professional Relations Coordinator
I love telling the world about Riverview Orthodontics: about Dr. Upton, our team, and how we change lives by changing smiles! I know the difference braces make because every day I see people become more confident and outgoing as they see their smile transform. I handle our marketing outreach to the community. I also coordinate Patient Appreciation Day and scholarship applications, manage our social media, and design our bulletin boards. Additionally, I help Linda with scheduling, the phones, and answering questions about treatment.
I grew up in Tuscaloosa. My husband Brian and I have a teenage son, Logan; we love our time together. I also enjoy crocheting and attempting to knit, and I have recently become a yarn hoarder. I find joy in creating with my hands, whether crocheting, knitting, drawing, painting, or lettering.
I enjoy meeting and getting to know new people. It’s amazing to build relationships that last a lifetime while helping people transform their lives by changing their smile! We have the most positive, energetic, supportive office, and our patients and families are always treated with respect and compassion. I handle a variety of tasks, from assisting patients and parents with questions to accounts receivable and payable, plus insurance filing and follow-up. I also oversee hiring and training of new staff, to make sure they’re the perfect fit for our environment.
I’ve been married for 40 years and have two children and five grandchildren. I also have guardianship of an international student from China: He lives with us when he’s not attending classes. My free time is spent with family and friends, along with entertaining, traveling, reading, and working in my yard.
Orthodontic Assistant and Office Supply Orderer
I look forward to meeting people and becoming their friends. Changing a person’s smile changes their life, and I feel lucky to be part of that process! At Riverview Orthodontics, we’re a big family and our patients are part of that: we always make sure they feel at home. I work chairside, to assist Dr. Upton with different procedures and support our patient. I also track, order, and organize our supplies.
I’m married to a great guy and have two children and an incredible grandchild. We love going to the beach, riding our bikes, and going to the gym.
Sterilization and Assistant-in-Training
I love working in such a happy, energetic practice! Our patients are always excited to show us the progress they’re making on their smile and tell us about their latest adventures. Seeing a person’s excitement and joy when they get their braces off is the best moment, and we all celebrate their achievement. I sterilize our orthodontic tools and equipment, stock supplies, and keep everything in order. I’m also learning how to assist Dr. Upton with patient care.
I have four boys and a dog named Olive. We’re active members of Shiloh Baptist Church, where I teach Sunday School. I love spending time with good friends and family, along with gardening and being outside. I also love music.
It’s fascinating to watch patients becoming more comfortable with their appearance and see how their confidence changes at the same time. I love helping people make a lasting change in their life by straightening their teeth and developing a new smile! Riverview Orthodontics is an incredible office. Dr. Upton and our team members are compassionate and support each other and our patients. I assist the doctor with clinical orthodontic procedures, and educate and motivate patients to keep their mouth clean and healthy.
I was born and raised in the Detroit area and recently made a life-changing decision to move to Tuscaloosa. I have four wonderful children and one beautiful, energetic grandson!
